The Team

Apart from our countless other helpers, the main people involved in the documentation project are as follows:

Hannes Hensel
Hannes Hensel – The originator (project head, photographer)

He had the idea of documenting the 5001 bunker, using panoramic photography, but was completely unsure at the time as to whether the project could be completed. Thomas Bergmann was strongly in favour of the documentation from the very beginning and was the driving force behind getting the documentation actually started.

A quote from Hannes: “I would never have started this madness on my own!”

Jürgen Freitag
Jürgen Freitag - Der Ehemalige (Leiter der Dokumentation)

(Only in german yet, sorry.)

Lass' mich bloß in Ruhe! ("Insider Witz - Siehe DOKUMENTATION > AKTUELLES")

Thomas Bergmann Thomas Bergmann – Fellow conspirator (photographer, lighting expert)

He was always a strong supporter of the documentation project. His main task involved trying to find with Hannes Hensel the best possibilities for shooting under extremely unsuitable lighting conditions. He was always the one who came up with good ideas and constructive criticism during the test shoots and while trying to work out the best approach.

A quote from Thomas: “Where’s my car?!” (referring to his lighting trolley in use on the roofs of the platform containers)

Sebastian Tenschert
Sebastian Tenschert – The invisible third man (preparatory work in the bunker)

Unfortunately, an infrequent visitor, but so very welcome when he can make it! His contribution was the intensive preparations carried out before the photography actually started. As a result, the panoramic shots were achieved effectively and quickly. Whether it was setting up the shots, electrical work or clearing up, he was always ready to lend a hand.

A quote from Sebastian: “What?” (normally shouted as he worked with ear protectors on)

Ramona Benzel Moni Benzel – Lighting assistant (providing support during photography)

Together with Hannes, Moni ensured that the lighting side would function in the most impossible places. Whether it was narrow access points, tiny little rooms, endless dirt and muck – it was thanks to her patience and consideration that even the most difficult situations could be dealt with. There was really no one else ready or able to wiggle a lamp or press the camera release in such tight corners.

A quote from Moni: “What? You want me to crawl in there?”

Thomas Werner Thomas Werner – The cleaner (preparatory work in the bunker)

The king of cleaners! However chaotic a room might look, Thomas could sort it out in no time with the result that you even felt like moving in! A great help also as an electrician and always ready to lend a hand.

A quote from Thomas: “Right, let’s get this sorted out!”

Our thanks also to our countless unnamed helpers, whether they are members of the BBN or not. Every little effort helped us on to the final result.
And a big "thank you" to the translator!
